MaticRelease notes

Stable 181

Robot update

Trick or Treat

Through November 1, say "Hey Matic, trick or treat" or "Hey Matic, happy Halloween," and Matic answers with a Halloween trick or treat.

Refill Guide at the Sink

When you open the lid to refill the water tank, Matic now plays a short video on its screen showing how much cleaner to add: only 1/2 cap (5 mL).

Clearer Wet Bag Alerts

When Matic pauses mopping because of water in the bag, it now tells you whether the bag reached its water capacity, so you can swap in a new one, or whether to check the bag and rinse the tank.

Brush Roll Check for Sweeper Jams

When you fix a sweeper jam in the app, Matic now checks that the brush roll is fully removed before testing the sweeper.

Camera Recovery

If Matic's cameras don't start, it now restarts itself once to recover.

Wi-Fi Reconnection

Fixed an issue where Matic could stay disconnected from Wi-Fi until it was restarted.

Mobile app update

Shop in the AppiOS

You can now buy accessories and parts right from the app.

Fewer CrashesAndroid

Fixed crashes on some phones, including the Pixel 6 family.

Stable 180

Robot update

Follow-Up Voice Commands

When you send Matic to a room with a voice command, for example, "Hey Matic, go to the kitchen," it now waits there for up to a minute for your next one. If you don't give one, Matic resumes what it was doing or returns to the dock.

Pirouette

Ask Matic to spin, for example, "Hey Matic, do a spin," or give it a sincere compliment, and it now does a pirouette.

Stable 179

Robot update

Faster Hard Floor Cleaning

Matic now turns more quickly at the end of each lane while vacuuming, spending less time slowing down in corners. Standard cleans on hard floors can now finish up to 3% faster.

Sharper Pet Waste Detection

Matic's pet waste detection model has been retrained again and now spots about a third more pet waste than the previous release, so fewer messes go unnoticed.

Microphone Alerts

If Matic's microphone stops working, it now lets you know on its screen and in the app, so you can reach out to support when "Hey Matic" stops responding.

Stable 178

Robot update

Smarter Pet Waste Detection

Matic now detects about a third more pet waste with fewer false alarms, so it avoids real messes more reliably without skipping harmless spots.

Clearer Wet Bag Alerts

Matic now tells you specifically when the wet bag is full, instead of grouping it with low-airflow bag alerts. If only the wet bag is full, Matic can keep vacuuming.

Brush Roll Alerts Stay Put

Fixed an issue where pressing the button cleared the "brush roll missing" warning while the brush roll was still out. The warning now stays until Matic detects the brush roll.

Matic Asks You to Repeat

If Matic doesn't catch a voice command the first time, it now asks you to say it again instead of giving up.

Mobile app update

Floor Vents on Your MapiOSAndroid

Matic now recognizes floor vents while cleaning and shows them as 3D models on your map.

Change Plans Mid-CleaniOSAndroid

While Matic is cleaning, tap any room on the map to skip it, clean it next, or clean it again.

Bag Pass in the AppiOS

You can now buy Bag Pass in the app for an unlimited supply of HEPA bags. Reorder bags, track your Pass, and renew it in Settings → My plans.

Guided Brush Roll Jam FixiOS

The app now walks you through clearing a brush roll jam, then runs a quick motor test to confirm it's fixed.

Repeat Past CleansiOS

Fixed an issue where cleaning sessions in the History tab couldn't be repeated.

Stable 177

Robot update

Faster Recovery After Being Moved

If you pick Matic up and set it down somewhere new, it now turns in place to look around and find itself on the map, instead of reporting itself lost when facing a wall or a bare corner.

Smoother Undocking

Fixed an issue where a cable, thin mat, or bit of cloth in front of the dock could stop Matic from leaving it. Matic now drives over small obstacles it can safely clear and only stops for things that truly block the way.

More Thorough Edge Cleaning

Matic now follows walls more closely when cleaning edges, covering about 4% more floor along the perimeter.

Faster Cleaning Start

Matic now checks its vacuum sensors in the background, so cleaning begins about a second sooner after you press start.

Mobile app update

Know Why Every Clean EndediOSAndroid

Matic now sends a notification when any clean finishes, including ones that stopped early, and tells you the reason.

Stable 176

Robot update

Better Coverage Along Floor Transitions

Matic now cleans more of the narrow strips where carpet meets hard floor next to walls.

Edge Cleaning in Tighter Spaces

Matic can now sweep along edges in gaps as narrow as 10.5 inches, down from 11.5 inches, helping it reach more nooks between furniture and walls.

Smarter Dock Search

If Matic loses track of its home dock, such as after getting lost and starting a fresh map, it now searches for other docks it knows instead of stopping in place.

Stable 175

Robot update

New Cleaning Order

Standard cleans now start with toekicks and edges, then transitions, and finish with the open floor, so the areas you walk on are cleaned last.

Point at Stains and Spills

With Matic Cues on, point at a spot and say "Hey Matic, clean this spill" or "Hey Matic, clean this stain." Matic vacuums and mops dry stains, and gives wet spills extra mop passes.

Clearer Follow Me

While Matic follows you, its screen now stays on a Following view for the whole walk, and shows Paused when you press the button to pause it.

Smarter Brush Roll Troubleshooting

The app now tells you specifically whether the brush roll is missing, jammed, or the mop roll is jammed, with steps to fix it. If the problem keeps coming back after you've cleared it, Matic flags a possible hardware issue and points you to support.

Mobile app update

See Why a Clean EndediOSAndroid

Cleaning history details now show why each clean stopped, whether it finished, you stopped it, a schedule took over, or Matic got lost or paused too long.

Tap the Sink to Summon MaticAndroid

Tap the sink label on your map to send Matic to the sink.

Stable 174

Robot update

Faster Cleaning

Matic can now drive and turn at its full hardware speed when conditions are safe, reducing cleaning time by up to 6% on hard floors.

Better Recovery From Under Furniture

If Matic gets lost under low furniture, like deep under a bed, it can now find its way back out instead of staying stuck.

More Responsive to "Hey Matic"

Fixed an issue where Matic could fail to turn toward you after hearing the wake word. It now finds you reliably using your position at the moment you spoke.

More Reliable Pet Waste Alarms

Matic's pet waste detection is now trained on additional real-world scenarios, so it's less likely to mistake harmless floor patches for pet waste and needlessly avoid them.

Stable 173

Robot update

More Reliable Low-Battery Docking

If Matic's lid is open when it returns to the dock on a low battery, it now backs onto the dock so the lid closes on contact, instead of shutting down in place.

Smarter Pet Waste Detection

Matic's pet waste detection is now about 2× more reliable. The algorithm is now trained on many more diverse scenarios, so Matic spots and avoids pet waste more consistently.

More Accurate Cleaning Summaries

Fixed an issue where a targeted clean (for example, just the toekicks in a room) could show misleadingly low coverage for that area. Coverage stats now reflect just what you asked Matic to clean.

Stable 172

Robot update

Introducing Matic Cues — Voice & Gesture Control

Talk to Matic like you'd talk to a helper. Matic understands natural language, so say it your way. Here's everything you can ask:

  • Clean a room: "Hey, Matic — clean the kitchen." Works with mopping and vacuuming too: "mop the bedroom," "vacuum the hallway." You can chain multiple rooms in one command.
  • Clean everywhere: "Clean the whole house," "clean all rooms."
  • Clean by surface or detail: "Clean the carpets," "clean the hard floors," "clean the edges," "clean the toekicks" — target exactly the surfaces that need it, in one room or the whole home.
  • Clean this: Point at a spot and say "clean this" — Matic sees where you're pointing and cleans that exact area.
  • Clean it again: "Redo last clean" repeats your most recent cleaning session.
  • Send it somewhere: "Go to the kitchen" sends Matic to any room you've named on your map.
  • Follow me: "Follow me" — Matic follows you to wherever needs attention.
  • Refill: "Go to the sink" — Matic comes to the sink for a water refill.
  • Pause and resume: "Pause" holds position until you say "resume."
  • Go home: "Dock" sends Matic back to its charger.
  • Give me space: "Go away" — Matic skips the current room and moves on, or heads back to the dock.

Smoother Mopping

Matic now correctly recognizes when it's genuinely stuck while mopping and recovers on its own, without falsely pausing during normal mopping turns.

Smarter Room Boundaries

Matic now draws more accurate room boundaries on your map, and when boundaries update, your schedules automatically carry over instead of needing to be recreated.

More Reliable Jam Alerts

Fixed an issue where a brush jam during a manually started clean could leave Matic waiting silently instead of letting you know.

Matic now recognizes clothes, socks, towels, and similar soft items on the floor and cleans around them instead of pushing or tangling with them, so a stray sock no longer interrupts a run.
